Four weeks after 20-year-old Marcelus Angelo Rodriguez went missing after going over Willamette Falls while kayaking April 12, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office recovered his body.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a body along the shore of the Willamette River near Meldrum Bar Park in Gladstone around 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4. After announcing it believed the body could be Rodriguez Sunday evening, the sheriff’s office confirmed the identityMonday, May 5. The sheriff’s office said his family had been notified.
Reports of Rodriguez’s disappearance prompted a massive search from multiple agencies. In the weeks since, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has continued to search the Willamette River for signs of the kayaker.
Rodriguez was reportedly on vacation with his family in Oregon City, staying in a house boat near the falls when he went missing.
