The West Linn Old Time Fair is a special event for many in the community. For half a century, locals have flocked to Willamette Park to try their hand at carnival games, ride the rides, indulge in yummy treats and maybe meet a princess or two.
And this year was no exception.
Starting with the crowing of the queen – Hanna Hilton – on Friday, the three-day event brought moms, dads, kids and couples in to share the fun.
“I like it all so far,” said Ami Gertlar on Willamette Falls Drive while watching the “Wild, Wild West Linn”-themed parade with her dog, Tucker. “The waterski float is great. They did the tower and everything. They were on skiies and rollerblades. It was cool.”
The synchronized singing and dancing to The Village People’s “YMCA” by older parade participants in walkers brought a lot of smiles.
But who could forget West Linn resident and volunteer Alice Richmond, the parade grand marshal, flashing her cap guns to the audience?
“Everything was enjoyable,” Richmond said. “The fair had lots of ... good feelings.”
